Colchester resident Dominique Troupe, 36, was arraigned in federal court Wednesday on three additional gun- and drug-related charges stemming from the death of an alleged rival drug dealer in Swanton last year, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorneyโ€™s Office.

Troupe was arrested last September, charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine base, and has been in federal custody since that time.

The three additional charges against Troupe include conspiracy to distribute cocaine base, aiding and abetting the use of a firearm in relation to the drug conspiracy, and conspiring to commit a robbery of drugs and money by threat of force, according to the press release.

If convicted on all four counts, Troupe could face 15 years to life in prison.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle ordered Troupe to โ€œremain detained during the pendency of the prosecution,โ€ according to the press release.

The three new charges stem from Feb. 2, 2022, when an alleged rival drug dealer, Elijah Oliver of Haverhill, Massachusetts, was shot to death in Swanton, according to the press release.ย

Authorities allege Troupe was dealing crack cocaine out of a house on River Street in Swanton, and to solidify their own distribution network, โ€œTroupe and others implemented a plan to carry out an armed robbery of Oliver,โ€ in which โ€œOliver was shot and killed,โ€ according to the press release.
