Burlington police are investigating the death of 42-year-old Amber G. Monty whose body was found Sunday morning at an apartment on Riverside Avenue. A man who called police to the scene was taken into custody on outstanding charges.
Burlington police received a call at 9:09 a.m. Sunday about a woman who the caller reported was unresponsive, according to a press release police issued Monday afternoon. Police and Burlington Fire Department personnel responding to the scene confirmed that Monty had died, and evidence at the scene “led patrol officers to consider the possibility that the death might be suspicious,” police said in the release.
At the scene, police took into custody the person who called to report Monty’s condition, who police said gave them a false name and other false information. Police said they recognized the man as Manuel “Manny” Francis, 46, who had nearly 100 “engagements” with police in the past several years. He was taken into custody on outstanding warrants on charges of aggravated assault with a weapon, disorderly conduct by electronic communication and false public alarm, police wrote.
Monty’s body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, and police said that they were investigating the case as “an untimely death.”
