Tracy Yarlott-Davis, Hartford’s town manager, was placed on administrative leave by the town’s selectboard on Friday “in order to discuss her future as town manager,” according to a notice the board sent to town employees.
“We want to thank Tracy for the work she’s done for the Town, and we wish her the best going forward,” the board wrote in the message.
An email to Yarlott-Davis bounced back with an automatic response indicating she was no longer serving as town manager.
Yarlott-Davis has faced scrutiny from both the public and the selectboard during her tenure, which began in December 2020. She previously spent four years as the lead auditor in Berkeley, California.
This summer, a selectboard member who uses only the name Rocket publicized an email in which he listed unspecified “troubling rumors” about Yarlott-Davis, and wrote that he had “lost faith in Tracy’s current work as our Town Manager,” according to the Valley News.
Rocket later apologized for releasing the message, and the entire selectboard issued a statement acknowledging fault in the situation.
Not long after, the selectboard announced that Yarlott-Davis would receive an overdue performance review.
Phone numbers listed for Yarlott-Davis were out of service when dialed Friday afternoon.
According to the selectboard’s Friday message, Hartford’s human resources and finance directors will oversee the town’s daily operations until the board appoints an interim town manager.
