A Connecticut man was arrested on Wednesday following a weekslong investigation into fentanyl trafficking in the Burlington area, the Vermont State Police said in a press release.

Devontrez Flowers, 26, of Hartford, Connecticut, had been the subject of an investigation involving the Northwest Vermont Drug Task Force, according to the release.

Police said Flowers was arrested Wednesday night after he led police on a brief foot chase down Church Street. The Burlington Police Department and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted with the arrest.

Flowersโ€™ arrest was related to police activity at 88 North Street on Wednesday where a police search occurred. According to police, the investigation involved two controlled purchases of fentanyl.

Flowers was arraigned for drug trafficking in Chittenden County Superior criminal court on Thursday.
