Authorities are requesting public assistance to locate Daniel Peters, 27, who is believed to be armed and dangerous, according to the Vermont State Police. He was last seen on Sunday in a village in the town of Barton.
On Sunday at about 10:30 p.m. at 1 Water Street in the village of Orleans, troopers approached two vehicles they considered suspicious outside of the Orleans Library, according to a press release state police issued Thursday. One of the occupants in the vehicle was Peters, who police said had an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
When troopers ordered the driver, Shannon Wrabel, to stop the vehicle, she โdrove off in an aggressive and negligent manner,โ according to police.
Michael Whitcomb, 56, of Concord, was identified in the second vehicle. Police said that after further investigation, probable cause was developed that Peters had committed several offenses including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against Whitcomb, aggravated disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment.
Wrabel, 35, of Westfield, was taken into custody by police on Wednesday and transported to Northern State Correctional Facility. She has been charged with impeding a public officer, attempting to elude, accessory after the fact and negligent operation. Police said that Wrabel is due at the Orleans County Courthouse at 1 p.m. on Thursday for her arraignment.
Peters is described as 6โ1โ in height, approximately 220 pounds, with a short beard, brown hair and tattoo sleeves on both arms. Police said not to approach Peters if spotted but to call the authorities.
