A 17-year-old from Swanton died after a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning in Highgate, according to a Vermont State Police press release.
Kyle Benway was driving on Route 78 shortly before 1 a.m. when his Jeep went off the road and overturned, ejecting Benway from the vehicle, police said. Benway was taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center, where he died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to police.
Police said Benway was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which is still being investigated.
