Vermont State Police are investigating the death of a 54-year-old Sudbury man who died after his truck hit a tree on Sunday evening, according to a press release.

State troopers from the Rutland barracks responded to the single-vehicle crash across from 550 Hulett Hill Road at about 4:14 p.m., and identified the deceased driver as Robert Greeno.

Greeno’s vehicle, a 2019 Chevrolet pickup, was found off the south shoulder of the road with front end damage. The pickup struck a large tree and Greeno was declared deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

The cause of the crash is pending further investigation and results of the autopsy.

Troopers were assisted by Castleton and Fair Haven police departments, Benson Fire Department, Fair Haven Rescue and Carrara’s Towing.
