Vermont State Police say a homeowner in Westminster encountered two intruders on Monday morning — a man and a woman — and shot at them, wounding the man.
Daniel J. King, 40, of Westminster, who was shot, was driven to an urgent care center in Bellows Falls, according to police, and was later flown by helicopter to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
He was listed in stable condition, state police said in a news release issued late Monday night.
Police received a report a little before 11 a.m. that King had been shot in a mobile home at Shady Pines Park off Back Westminster Road, according to an earlier release.
Initial reports, police said, indicate the shooting took place when Nathaniel Keefe, 37, of Westminster, the homeowner, “encountered two intruders” — later identified as King and Jacquelyn Fougere, 29, of Springfield — and shot at them, striking King.
No other injuries were reported. No one is in custody, and no charges have been filed, police said late Monday night.
Additional details were not immediately available.
