The Vermont Department of Health reported 1,917 new Covid-19 cases Friday, raising the seven-day case average to 1,123 cases per day.
Fridayโs case tally is slightly lower than the 2,131 cases reported Thursday, which broke the stateโs record for cases in a single day. But the overall case average has skyrocketed in recent days, rising 160% in just two weeks.
Hospitalizations ticked down from Thursdayโs near-record of 91 patients hospitalized with the virus. As of Friday, 84 people were hospitalized with Covid-19, including 14 in intensive care units.
No new deaths were reported Friday. In total, 482 people have died since the beginning of the pandemic, with two of those deaths occurring in January.
Bennington County had the highest case rate among the stateโs 14 counties in the past two weeks, the department reported, with more than 2,000 cases per 100,000 people in that time period. Rutland, Franklin and Chittenden counties had the next-highest case rates, respectively.
