Free at-home Covid-19 tests are being distributed Thursday and Friday at 16 sites across Vermont, according to the state Department of Health. Test supplies on Thursday have mostly been depleted, according to the health department, but more tests will be available on Friday.
Each take-home kit includes two rapid antigen tests. These tests deliver results in about 15 minutes. Experts say antigen tests are useful for detecting whether a person is currently contagious with Covid-19, but they may not detect every infection.
Test kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the health department. For Friday, only sites labeled “Agency of Transportation” (bolded below) will be providing tests while supplies last. There will be a two-per-car limit.
The health department has not reported any change to distribution of LAMP tests by appointment.
