Vermont reported 61 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday and 300 additional cases over the three-day weekend.

The health department did not report new data on Monday due to Bennington Battle Day, a state holiday. The state dashboard shows 107 new cases on Saturday, 130 on Sunday and 63 on Monday.

No new deaths were reported. Four people have died of Covid-19 so far this month, compared to two deaths in July.

As of Tuesday, the health department reports 25 people are hospitalized with the virus, with nine in intensive care. One more person is hospitalized with a suspected case.

The seven-day average test positivity rate is 3%.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, community transmission is considered “substantial” or “high” in every Vermont county except Orange. The agency recommends universal indoor masking, regardless of vaccination status, in those 13 counties.

As of Aug. 16, six Vermont counties show "high" Covid-19 transmission rates and seven more show "substantial" spread, according to a CDC tracker. Counties in yellow are "moderate."

Six of those counties are in the most severe category, indicating more than 100 cases per 100,000 residents in the last seven days: Addison, Bennington, Chittenden, Franklin, Orleans and Washington.

The state’s vaccine dashboard, also updated Tuesday, shows 85.1% of eligible Vermonters have received at least one dose of the Covid vaccine. The state reports 433,083 Vermonters, or 69.4% of the total population, are fully vaccinated.
