An 87-year-old Plainfield resident died in a car crash Thursday morning, according to state police.
Several police and fire units arrived at a single-car crash at 9:41 a.m. on Lower Depot Road. Driver Norman Dix was pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Judy Dix, 78, was taken to Central Vermont Medical Center with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening, according to the report.
Authorities determined they had been driving south on Lower Depot Road in a 2016 Chevrolet truck when “the vehicle traveled off the west edge of the roadway and overturned.”
The truck was damaged on the front end. Speed and impairment are not considered factors at this point, but authorities are investigating the crash, police said.
