HARTFORD VILLAGE โ Vermont State Police are investigating a fatal police shooting in Hartford Village on Thursday afternoon, according to a news release.
Authorities said a Hartford police officer was injured, and the victim he shot is dead.
Both are adult white males, according to Vermont State Police spokesperson Adam Silverman, who said the incident was called in around 1:35 p.m.

Detectives and forensic technicians with the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit and Bureau of Criminal Investigation were examining evidence outside a home on Paula Street around 4 p.m.
A gray, two-door Acura parked at the foot of one of the driveways was marked with police tape. Paula Street is a short road with five homes, and access to three of them at the end of the street was also blocked off by police tape.

A neighbor who declined to give her name said she saw a gray car come down the road to the driveway, and that a man got out and went up the driveway, and she heard two shots.
State police said they expect to provide more information Thursday evening as the investigation progresses.
