The latest data from the Department of Health shows many areas of the state are recovering from the latest Covid-19 surge that hit hard when it arrived in March.

Franklin County, which at its peak had five towns with high-level case rates, now reports none. Enosburgh and St. Albans, the last two in the high-level category, both reported their lowest case numbers in weeks.

The Northeast Kingdom still has a handful of towns with the state’s highest viral rates compared to their population: Lunenburg, Newport City, Norton, Troy and Victory. But overall, the numbers for Caledonia, Essex and Orleans counties in the Kingdom have declined in recent weeks.

Orange County also reported declining case counts, but its numbers remain higher than they were in March. Corinth, Ryegate and Topsham were in the highest category of case spread.

Elsewhere in Vermont, communities with the highest viral rates included Ferrisburgh, Killington, Peru and Whiting.
