Franklin County towns are recovering from a surge in cases that closed several schools in the area, but high case rates lingered in town-by-town data from the Department of Health.
According to the health department, Franklin town, Enosburgh and Bakersfield remain in the highest category of case rate relative to their population. Sheldon dropped out of that category this week.
In Essex County, East Haven was the lone community rated in that highest category, surrounded by many communities in the lowest category of case rate. The community has had six new cases in the past two weeks.
Elsewhere in the state, Starksboro, Whiting, Killington, Londonderry, Grafton and Halifax were in the top category of case rate. Killington was in the highest category in late January, but fell out of it in early February only to go up again in the past two weeks.
None of the 25 towns with the highest cumulative case total had an increase in cases above 20%, a potential sign of Vermont’s dropping cases in the latest surge.
