Several Bennington County towns continued to have high rates of Covid, despite declining case numbers statewide, according to Department of Health data.
Bennington, Manchester, Winhall and Dover had the highest category of Covid cases compared to their population in the past two weeks, according to the health department map. Overall, Bennington County reported 302 cases in the past two weeks.
Bennington, the community, had the second-highest growth in the total number of new cases among Vermont cities and towns, going from 300 cases to 432 cases in just two weeks. Burlington continues to have the highest total number of cases at 1,204, but it is also by far the largest city in the state.
Northfield, site of Norwich University’s recent 80-person student outbreak, also reported the highest category of Covid cases. Other towns with a high rate included Killington, Windsor, Rochester, Hancock, Guildhall, Maidstone, Norton and Canaan.
