The Department of Health reported 127 new cases of the coronavirus and two new deaths on Saturday. Total cases in Vermont since the beginning of the pandemic now number 4,894, and total deaths number 79.

As of Wednesday, daily case numbers dating back to Sept. 6 now include cases considered as “probable” under the department’s new reporting criteria.

New cases were reported Friday in 12 counties:

  • Chittenden: 33
  • Washington: 25
  • Windsor: 14
  • Franklin: 8
  • Addison: 8
  • Orleans: 8
  • Orange: 11
  • Caledonia: 6
  • Bennington: 5
  • Rutland: 3
  • Windham: 3
  • Lamoille: 2
  • Undetermined: 1

As of Saturday, 22 people were hospitalized with confirmed cases of Covid-19, with four in intensive care. Three more were hospitalized with suspected cases.

The state reported that 578,009 tests have been administered for the illness in Vermont since mid-March, an increase of 5,139. As of Saturday, 231,751 people have been tested. The seven-day positivity rate is 2.8%, the same as Friday’s.

The state has gathered the dashboards and websites of Vermont colleges that are reporting Covid cases and testing. Those can be found on the Department of Financial Regulation’s School Reopening web page.
