The Scott administration announced Monday that no new cases of the coronavirus have been detected in Fair Haven, where a cluster of a dozen cases was found at a quarry worksite.
“With regard to one of the outbreaks,” Health Commissioner Mark Levine said Monday morning, “we did specific community testing in Fair Haven over the weekend, and well over 200 tests were all negative.”
Vermont’s Department of Health won’t release additional information about the outbreak — such as the name or industry of the employer. But it has said that some of the cases in Fair Haven were residents of New York.
Gov. Phil Scott said Vermont was in touch with the Washington County, New York, health department in responding to the outbreak. Levine said his counterparts in New York were doing contact tracing around the cases, but he wasn’t aware of additional testing.
“They were not specifically doing extra testing, but that’s because we had been coordinating the testing already, both in Vermont, but also at the worksite itself,” Levine said.
“And so the employees that might be living in New York that we’re concerned were going to be tested as part of the worksite testing that we were doing in Vermont.”
