The Vermont Department of Health reported three new Covid-19 cases on Friday afternoon, bringing the total caseload in the state to 919. The state has conducted 19,008 Covid-19 tests since the crisis began. No new deaths were reported today, the total number of pandemic-related deaths in the state remains at 53.

Gov. Phil Scott announced today that child care centers can reopen on June 1 and summer camps will be able to open this summer as long as they can follow safety guidelines, which are expected to be issued next week. State officials acknowledged opening child care programs will be an important part of ensuring Vermonters can get back to work, as modeling continues to show a slow in the spread of Covid-19.

Education officials also provided guidance on how school communities should plan to celebrate end-of-the-year festivities since large gatherings will not be permitted through the end of the school year. Officials encouraged schools to plan creatively with their communities for opportunities to celebrate milestones and graduations in ways that are safe.
