Gov. Phil Scott announced Friday that he will soon extend his order closing restaurants and bars (apart from takeout orders and delivery).
Scott’s executive order closing bars and restaurants (except for takeout) was among his first moves to promote social distancing, and is set to expire on April 6.
Scott said the order would soon be extended.
“You can expect that there’ll be an extension of the initial order, and that’ll be coming in the next two or three days,” Scott said at a Friday press briefing.
The governor did not specify how long the order would be extended for, however the state’s latest modeling shows that coronavirus cases will likely peak in mid-April to early May.
Scott said Friday that he would not consider rolling back his social distancing orders until Vermont has passed that peak. “And then we’ll mitigate our way out of this as well,” he said.
