Gov. Phil Scott declared a state of emergency in response to the coronavirus pandemic on Friday, taking action to limit the size of public gatherings and suspending some regulations to bolster the health care workforce. Read more from VTDigger 

The Vermont Legislature is adjourning until March 24, with only essential IT personnel and cleaning employees allowed into the Statehouse. During the adjournment, lawmakers will plan out what high-priority bills need to be pushed out after the recess. Read more from VTDigger 

The Vermont Department of Corrections has suspended inmate visits at its prisons and jails, while the Supreme Court has postponed all jury drawings, in response to the global coronavirus outbreak. Read more from VTDigger

Vermont’s ski areas are holding their course in the face of the worldwide COVID-19 outbreak. Jay Peak was the only Vermont ski area to close as a result of calls for social distancing to mitigate the risk of infection. Read more from VTDigger 

With the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Chittenden County, the Burlington School District advised parents Friday to prepare for potential school closures. Read more from VTDigger here 

However, Twin Valley Elementary in Wilmington and the Mater Christi School in Burlington were the only two that closed due to concerns over the virus. Read more from Digger here 

Sen. Bernie Sanders said that President Donald Trump should be tested for the coronavirus after being exposed to at least one man who has since tested positive for it. In a press conference in Burlington, Sanders also said that the viral outbreak is “radically changing” the presidential campaign. Read more from VTDigger
