[T]he owner of a gravel business was crushed to death Wednesday at a quarry in Swanton.
Ryan Charbonneau, 32, of Swanton, was killed by blunt crushing injuries to the head, torso, and extremities, according to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Vermont State Police say their initial investigation shows the death was accidental.
At around noon Wednesday, E911 was contacted about a man who was trapped by a piece of equipment at the site. When officials arrived, Charbonneau was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident occurred at 69 Pond Road, where Northeast Aggregate, the business that Charbonneau owned, is located.
An investigation will be continued by the Mine Safety and Health Administration, and will include the equipment that was at the gravel pit site at the time of the accident.
