[K]ing Arthur Flour issued a recall for more than 85,000 bags of all-purpose flour due to E. coli concerns this week.

The Norwich-based company announced Thursday that it was issuing the voluntary recall for some five-pound bags of unbleached all-purpose flour, which were sold through retailers and distributors across the country, according to a release.

The E. coli concerns arose because ADM Milling Co., a Buffalo-based company that mills King Arthurโ€™s flour, flagged links to an outbreak involving a different product processed at the facility, according to King Arthur spokesperson Gwen Adams.

King Arthur Flour decided to issue the recall out of โ€œan abundance of caution,โ€ Adams said.

Last month, ADM Milling issued a voluntary recall for five-pound bags of Aldi’s Bakers Corner All Purpose Flour because of E. coli concerns.

The flour included in the King Arthur Flour recall is marked with โ€œbest used byโ€ dates of 12/07/19, 12/08/19, or 12/14/19. The impacted products are marked with six different lot numbers, which are listed in a release on the Food and Drug Administrationโ€™s website.

King Arthur Flour encourages anybody with a bag included in the recall to dispose of it or return it to the place where they purchased it. The company is issuing reimbursements for consumers who bought flour included in the recall.

Stores have already removed impacted products from shelves, according to Adams.

Flour sold directly through King Arthurโ€™s catalog, website and retail store in Norwich is not included in the recall.

This post was updated on June 15 to include information about ADM Milling Co.’s previous recall.
