Hanover — Police are searching for a gunman who allegedly shot a non-Dartmouth College student just before 10 p.m. on Friday at the Christian Science Reading Room on School Street. The school has lifted its shelter in place order for the college community, according to a Dartmouth alert issued around 12:35 a.m. All reports of gunshots around the campus have been investigated, and police found no indication there were shots in those areas, Dartmouth said.

Dartmouth issued an initial campuswide alert around 10:15 p.m. about a “shooting incident” at School and West Wheelock streets. The alert advised the campus community to shelter in place.

Police had blocked off the area from School Street to Allen Street during their search, which included the area of School Street near the First Church of Christ Scientist.
