[T]he Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested 51-year-old Roland Prejean, also known as Gary Gravelle, who is suspected of sending a series of emails to Burlington schools, Burlington International Airport, as well as other public buildings threatening to โ€œengage in a spree of murderous violence against the community,โ€ police said on Thursday.

Prejean is being held on a supervised release violation.

โ€œThere is no reason to believe these threats presented an actual danger to the community, and this especially so since the suspect was swiftly taken into federal custody,โ€ Burlington Police Chief Brandon del Pozo said in a statement after the FBI arrested Prejean on Wednesday in New Haven, Connecticut.

Prejean is a suspect in four instances Wednesday in which white powder — which turned out to be baby powder – was sent to federal and state offices in Hartford, Connecticut, according to Connecticut media.

In 2010, Prejean was sentenced in federal courtย to 70 months for mailing a letter claiming to have planted a bomb in a post office โ€” a bomb was not found by investigators.

During the 2010 trial, the government showed evidence of 50 other โ€œthreatening lettersโ€ Prejean mailed both prior to his arrest and while he was detained in federal custody.

An FBI spokesperson said there is no further information on Prejean at this time.
