[A] shell company linked to Fox News host Sean Hannity purchased a condominium near Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow.
The company paid nearly $2.2 million for the unit.
The condo is one of hundreds of properties that shell companies linked to Hannity purchased over the last decade, according to a report in the Guardian.
The companies came to light in the wake of the revelation that Hannity sought legal guidance from Michael Cohen, the embattled longtime personal lawyer to President Donald Trump.
Hannity has said he consulted with Cohen on real estate matters but that he never actually retained Cohenโs services.
The group of companies, registered to an address in Kennesaw, Georgia, bought more than 870 pieces of property in seven states, including Vermont, according to the Guardian. The companies spent more than $90 million.
A review of Vermontโs 2017 grand list turned up only one property linked to a company with a name associated to Hannity.
According to Ludlow town documents, the company SPMK III VT, LLC purchased a four-bedroom unit in the Jackson Gore complex in December 2007.
The company paid $2,180,780 for the unit, which, according to the town listers, was assessed at $2,042,000 at the time. The property has depreciated since then. In the most recent town records, it was valued at $906,900.
According to the Guardian, some of the properties in other states included apartment buildings that the companies had purchased with funds from the Department for Housing and Urban Development.
In a statement on his website Monday, Hannity defended his real estate holdings.
โIt is ironic that I am being attacked for investing my personal money in communities that badly need such investment and in which, I am sure, those attacking me have not invested their money,โ Hannity said. โThe fact is, these are investments that I do not individually select, control, or know the details about; except that obviously I believe in putting my money to work in communities that otherwise struggle to receive such support.โ
