A New York man was sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison for his role in a scheme to traffic and distribute oxycodone in Vermont.

Michael Foreste, also known as “Beast,” was sentenced to 110 months Monday at federal court in Burlington, according to a release from the office of the U.S. attorney for the District of Vermont.

After a two-week trial in October, a jury convicted Foreste on 10 charges that related to allegations he trafficked oxycodone to Vermont over the course of six years.

He worked with a group of people, including New York City police officer Andre Clarke. Clarke pleaded guilty a year ago to charges that he was involved in distributing oxycodone in Vermont.

Dannis Hackney, who was also accused in the conspiracy, pleaded guilty in September and is awaiting sentencing.

Clarke’s sister, Carol Clarke, is under indictment for allegedly obtaining the oxycodone through her prescription. She is accused of passing the pills to her brother, who then supplied them to Foreste. Foreste brought them to Vermont, where Hackney distributed them.
