DORSET — Vermont State Police are searching the Dorset Quarry for a Bennington College student reported missing over the weekend.
State police said Monday that Hadil Marzouq, 21, was last seen leaving a residence in Bennington on Saturday. On Sunday, her vehicle was found near the Dorset Quarry, off Route 30.
Roughly 10 troopers were at the quarry Tuesday morning, among them a search dog unit and the state police scuba team.
The quarry is a popular swimming hole in the summer. It’s currently frozen over, and police chopped a hole in the ice.
More information will be forthcoming, police said at the scene.
Marzouq is a peer mediator at Bennington College and earlier this semester was involved with a class that developed a number of projects designed to increase interaction between students and the wider Bennington community.
