The Public Service Board again rejected appeals to halt a natural gas pipeline through Addison County on Thursday.
The board denied a request from Bristol-based attorney Jim Dumont to reconsider an earlier order granting Vermont Gas Systems eminent domain for the pipeline through Hinesburg’s Geprags Park.
Dumont filed an appeal to the Vermont Supreme Court concurrently with his motion for the Public Service Board to reconsider its decision. That means the case now goes to the state’s highest court.
Dumont was not available for comment on the case Friday.
Vermont Gas Systems spokeswoman Beth Parent welcomed the news.
“This is another important step forward for this project and the thousands of families and businesses that are waiting for us,” Parent said.
Construction on the 41-mile pipeline is complete except for a roughly 2,000-foot section through Geprags Park.
Vermont Gas on Friday filed a motion asking the Vermont Supreme Court to lift a stay on construction, Parent said. Pipeline opponents have sought to halt the project until the high court rules on the appeal.
