The head of Vermont’s Department of Human Resources will leave her post later this month, according to the Shumlin administration.
Commissioner Maribeth Spellman will leave Oct. 28 to go to work for the Burlington-based firm Hickok & Boardman HR Intelligence as director of organizational wellness and cost containment.
She took the helm at the Human Resources Department in September 2014.
In a statement, Gov. Peter Shumlin called Spellman “an invaluable member of my administration.”
Deputy Commissioner Tom Cheney will take over as the head of the department for the final months of the Shumlin administration.
Cheney previously worked for Rep. Peter Welch, D-Vt., and House Speaker Shap Smith.
