[T]he Green Mountain Care Board nominating committee met last week to discuss a successor for Dr. Allan Ramsay, a family physician whose term on the board ends Sept. 30.

Ramsay is completing a five-year term after being appointed Oct. 1, 2011, and has not sought reappointment.

Sen. Claire Ayer, D-Addison, chair of the nominating committee, said the panel submitted a list of names to Gov. Peter Shumlin last week. The list was narrowed down from a larger group of people who submitted answers to a lengthy questionnaire, she said.

The Vermont Department of Human Resources has been seeking applications for the position since July 14, according to its website. Interviews took place last week, culminating Friday, the website says.

The Green Mountain Care Board has five members and a support staff of about 15 accountants, analysts and lawyers. The boardโ€™s main duties are to regulate hospital budgets and health insurance prices.

The open position is 32 hours a week with an annual salary of $96,678. The term will be six years.
