Recount results in one district for the state House of Representatives show a different person as one of two Democratic nominees.

Four people contended for the party’s two nominations for the Grand Isle-Chittenden district House seats in the Aug. 9 primary election.

Rep. Mitzi Johnson, who chairs the House Appropriations Committee, emerged the clear leader on election night.

The results from the initial count, posted on the secretary of state’s website, showed Andrew Julow as the party’s second nominee, with 560 votes — edging out retired Superior Court Judge Ben Joseph by 10 votes.

However, a recount last week reversed the second-place results. According to the most recent count, Joseph got 586 votes across the district, while Julow received 567.

The recount results are scheduled to go before a judge for certification Thursday.
