Secretary of State Jim Condos said Wednesday he will seek re-election.

Condos, 65, said he had more work to accomplish. He was first elected to the office in 2010.

“I’m looking for good government solutions that can save money while providing better service to Vermonters,” Condos said.

He touted his record of moving much of the secretary of state’s filing information and election information online, including a searchable database of election results. He also cited his efforts to educate Vermonters on public records and open meeting laws on a “transparency tour” that has included 40 stops.

Condos said he is pushing for a stronger State Ethics Commission than the proposal put forward by the Senate. He said the commission needs a full-time director and investigators to be effective. So far, the Senate proposal has called for a part-time director with no investigative staff.

Condos said he has about $6,000 left over from his last campaign.

No other candidates have announced for the position.
