VTDigger provides extensive news coverage of issues at the Vermont Statehouse. We believe one of our primary missions is to keep citizens informed about decisions made by Vermont lawmakers.

Each Friday, as part of its ongoing Statehouse coverage, VTDigger will interview newsmakers and news breakers to get the “Story Behind the Story” on what is currently happening under the Golden Dome.

This week, in our first edition, we interviewed House Majority Leader Sarah Copeland-Hanzas, D-Bradford, Senate Majority Leader Philip Baruth, D-Chittenden and Senate Minority Leader Joe Benning, R-Caledonia.

In separate interviews, the three lawmakers discussed financial pressures in forming a state budget and also gave their views on the suspension this week of Sen. Norman McAllister.

The interviews were conducted by VTDigger Senior Reporter Mark Johnson in the Statehouse historic Cedar Creek Room, and filmed by VTDigger Chief Political Reporter Jasper Craven. On future Fridays, we expect to broadcast the interviews live.
