The Shumlin administration will get a new head of economic development in April.

Joan Goldstein, executive director of the Green Mountain Economic Development Corporation, will fill the slot, the governorโ€™s office said in a statement on Thursday.

At GMEDC, Goldstein diversified services in Windsor and Orange counties. She comes from a two-decade career in international financial services, working at JP Morgan and Credit Suisse.

Goldstein also worked as an adviser for the Small Businesses Development Corporation.

โ€œEconomic development is critical for the further prosperity of the state and I am very pleased to have this opportunity to play a role,โ€ Goldstein said in a statement.

Goldstein replaces Lisa Gosselin, who has served since July 2013.

During her tenure, Gosselin launched initiatives to attract employees to Vermont and organized an economic development summit. She also oversaw a statewide study that targeted key areas for economic development over the next five years.

โ€œSheโ€™s been a tremendous asset to the state and we hate to see her go,โ€ said Gov. Peter Shumlin.

She will be leaving the administration in April, and will become vice-president at Addison Press Inc. in Middlebury.
