The union that represents troopers who work for the Vermont State Police has endorsed incumbent Lt. Gov. Phil Scott, a Republican.
The Vermont Troopers Association supports Scott because he has helped to ensure that police receive “fair compensation for putting their lives on the line every day to keep Vermonters safe.”
“I’m honored to have the support of the Vermont Troopers’ Association in my quest for a third term as lieutenant governor,” Scott said in a statement. “These are men and women who put their lives on the line every day and every night in order to keep Vermonters safe. They are true public servants, and as a fellow public servant, their endorsement inspires me to keep doing my best every day and every night in order to make Vermont a better place for all of us.”
The troopers recently interviewed Scott for the endorsement. The interview touched on pay, health care reform and pensions.
The Vermont Troopers Association represents 300 sworn officers of the Vermont State Police, including troopers, corporals, sergeants and detectives.
