Jeff Danziger, a New York Times syndicated cartoonist, will present his new book, “Conscience of a Cartoonist,” in Montpelier tonight.
The book, a large coffee table sized compendium of his post-9/11 cartoons, documents the tragedy of the terrorist attack on New York City and Washington, D.C., and what Danziger sees as the “disorganized” political response that followed.
The presentation 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Kellogg-Hubbard Library will include a book signing. Copies of “Conscience of a Cartoonist” will be available for purchase.
Danziger has been a cartoonist for 40 years. He began his career in Vermont while he worked as a teacher at U-32 High School in Montpelier. His cartoons were first published in the Times Argus.
In April, he went to Cannes for a showing of the French documentary “Cartoonists: Foot Soldiers of Democracy,” which featured Danziger and cartoonists from around the world.
Danziger won the 2006 Herblock Prize and the 2008 Thomas Nast Prize. He has produced a book about the Vietnam War, 10 books of cartoons and a children’s book. His work has appeared in the New York Times, the New York Daily News, The Times Argus, the Rutland Herald and the Christian Science Monitor.
Danziger is a decorated Vietnam War veteran.
