State police Thursday identified the troopers involved in a May 28 officer-involved shooting in Barton as Sgt. Denis Girouard and Trooper Seth Loomis.

Girouard, 43, was hired in July 2000, according to the state police. He is the patrol commander at the St. Johnsbury barracks, police said.

Loomis, 26, was hired in November 2011 and is a Trooper First Class at the St. Johnsbury barracks. Both officers remain on unpaid administrative leave.

The shooting victim, Eric Jackson, 27, of Lyndonville will be charged in Caledonia Superior Court. He remains at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., where he is stable condition and receiving treatment for his wounds, police said.

Police did not say what the charges will be.

Once the investigation into the shooting is complete, the Attorney Generalโ€™s Office and the Orleans County Stateโ€™s Attorneyโ€™s Office will review the case, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:08 a.m. Wednesday after Jackson allegedly stole a vehicle from a residence on U.S. 5 in Sutton and sped away.
