More than 75 people joined VTDigger on Thursday for a Legislative Preview panel on issues facing lawmakers in the 2014 session, which begins Jan. 7. Click the video above to watch a replay of the event held at the Capitol Plaza in Montpelier.
Moderated by VTDigger Editor Anne Galloway, nine state senators and representatives fielded reader-submitted questions on a variety of thorny topics facing the Legislature next year — from an estimated $70 million budget gap to alternatives to the public education funding mechanism to GMO labeling and more.
Panelists were: Rep. Tony Klein (energy and natural resources), Rep. Michael Fisher (health care), Rep. Carolyn Branagan (taxes), Rep. Peter Peltz (education), Rep. Mitzi Johnson (budget), Rep. Kate Webb (environment), Sen. Richard Westman (budget), Sen. Dick McCormack (education) and Sen. David Zuckerman (agriculture).
Join us for our next VTDigger event, a legislative open house Jan. 7 at our new offices at 97 State Street in Montpelier.
