BURLINGTON — Two men were arrested and police seized more than 9,000 bags of heroin during a raid on a Burlington apartment early Friday, authorities said in a news release. Police said it was one of the largest heroin seizures in Vermont history.

The Vermont Drug Task Force said Marcus Davis, 34 of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Eddie Eason Jr, 25, of Medford N.Y., were arrested on federal charges of conspiracy to distribute heroin. Officials say Eason and Davis are part of a larger heroin distribution ring trafficking heroin from New York City to Vermont.

Police said the raid at a home on Flynn Avenue by members of the Vermont Drug Task Force, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Burlington police netted 9,000 bags of heroin, with an approximate street value of $126,000, and $5,000 in cash.

The suspects were to be arraigned Friday in U.S. District Court. More arrests are possible, police said.
