It’s official, new Commissioner of Mental Health Paul Dupre and outgoing Commissioner Mary Moulton have switched jobs.
Moulton took Dupre’s former post as executive director of Washington County Mental Health Services on July 1 — the same day Dupre took over as commissioner of the Vermont Department of Mental Health.
Moulton is no stranger to Washington County Mental Health. She took a leave of absence from her post as chief of operations at the community mental health center to help the department after Tropical Storm Irene inundated the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury. She then took over as commissioner in late 2012, when Patrick Flood unexpectedly left the post.
Dupre, who was a longtime colleague of Moulton’s, had this to say about her in an internal email:
“Mary has worked for the agency for over 20 years. She has extensive knowledge of all the work we do and the people we serve. Her year and a half stint with the Department of Mental Health (recently as the Commissioner) gives her a knowledge of the inner workings of the state as well as many connections that will be helpful as the agency faces future challenges in the mental and physical health care world.”
