On Wednesday, the Vermont House passed the Budget Adjustment Act as it was proposed.

The adjustment represents a net $3.88 million hike on an overall budget of $5.013 billion.

While the state is appropriating $30 million more for human services than was anticipated, it is also set to spend $53 million less on Medicaid programs than was projected. The over-projection of Medicaid spending is keeping this year’s budget in balance.

In addition to human services, the state’s Judiciary is facing a $2.5 million deficit, Fish and Wildlife is facing a $492,000 deficit, and the Attorney General’s Office is asking for $1 million extra for litigation costs associated with the state’s failed IMS case in 2011.
