Amtrak suspended train and bus services for Monday throughout much of the Northeast. The Vermonter and Ethan Allen routes, which run respectively from New York City and Washington, D.C., to Vermont, are among the canceled routes.
Amtrak announced the widespread cancelations yesterday, citing high winds and heavy rains that are predicted to accompany Hurricane Sandy.
Amtrak is not providing alternative transportation services, and the company has not announced when it plans to resume services. Passengers who have purchased tickets for canceled routes can receive either a refund or a voucher for future travel. An update will be provided on the Amtrack/alerts website by 6 p.m. on Monday.
