Gov. Peter Shumlin, at a July 17 press conference, said he was doing everything in his power to track the alleged overtime abuses of former Vermont State Police Sgt. James Deeghan. The governor also addressed the state’s overall use of overtime, partisan politics in election season and campaign finance. Asked if a petition signed by more than 800 Vermonters including former Governor Madeleine Kunin had swayed his stance on Tasers, the governor said “No.”
