The legal advocacy groups, the Vermont Community Law Center and Law For Food, plan to file a class action lawsuit against Pinnacle Foods Group, which owns Log Cabin Syrup and Birds Eye frozen vegetables, over GMO food labeling.
The crux of the lawsuit is whether labeling GMO and synthetic food products as “all natural” violates the Vermont Consumer Protection Act.
Attorneys Jared Carter and Kenneth Miller, who say the suit is the first of its kind, will make the announcement 11 a.m. Monday on the steps of City Hall. Political candidates will be on hand to weigh in, too, such as TJ Donovan, Chittenden County State’s Attorney and candidate for Attorney General, along with Sen. Philip Baruth.
