Franklin County races and candidates

There are 14 towns and one city in Franklin County: Bakersfield, Berkshire, Enosburg, Fairfax, Fairfield, Fletcher, Franklin, Georgia, Highgate, Montgomery, Richford, Sheldon, St. Albans City, St. Albans Town and Swanton.

County races

While Vermont does not have as robust county government as many states, the state does have five elected county offices. Those positions are up for election every four years. The elected county offices include state’s attorney, sheriff, probate judge, high bailiff and two assistant judges. 

Voters in each of Vermont’s 14 counties elect people to fill these positions.

There are six elected officers in Vermont who serve the entire state, not including delegates to Congress. These positions are filled through a general election every two years in November.
