EAST MONTPELIER — Lara Kim Sobel, 48, died suddenly on Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, in Barre City.

She was born in Oceanside, New York, on Feb. 26, 1967, the daughter of Alex and Bobbi (Schwartz) Sobel.

Lara received her B.A. and master’s degrees from the University of Vermont.

Lara was employed by the state of Vermont as a caseworker for the Department for Children and Families.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Timothy Faryniarz, and two daughters, Julia and Elahna Sobel-Faryniarz, all of East Montpelier; her parents of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and Oceanside, New York; and her sister, Lauren Sobel Shapiro of West Orange, New Jersey.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, in the Grand Ballroom at the Capitol Plaza Hotel, 100 State St., Montpelier, with interment to follow.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the following charities: Camp Tel Yehudah, Prevent Child Abuse, Beth Jacob Synagogue in Montpelier, or Central Vermont Humane Society.
