Jack Lindley, chair of the Vermont Republican Party, has been hospitalized in critical condition since Friday.
The Vermont GOP issued a statement Monday morning saying Lindley is at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. Deborah Bucknam, the vice chairman, will take over as GOP chair in the meantime.
The party’s treasurer, Mark Snelling, said doctors are still trying to pin down what happened to Lindley.
“It’s not a heart attack. It’s not a stroke. The doctors don’t really know what it is at the moment,” Snelling said.
Lindley’s wife and five sons are with him at the hospital. The statement asks people to respect the family’s privacy.
“Jack’s family appreciates all of your prayers, good wishes and your respect for their privacy as they support Jack,” the statement reads.
