  1. I WOULD VOTE FOR YOU FOR PRESIDENT.

    RUBY BOONE

  2. If maple trees are not suited to the physical environment as it exists in front of the state house – why do we keep throwing away money by planting maple trees in the unfavorable physical environment as it exists in front of the state house?

Welch – the voice of the radical right – joined his radical, right wing buddies in congress as they attacked and destroyed the national level group ACORN. It didn’t bother Welch then that the attacks were all absolutely lie based, and it doesn’t bother Welch today that the attacks were absolutely lie based.

‘His computer, passport and checkbook were all still in the car, which was “mildly damaged.”’ … turned out to be a good day for Mr. Young. I’m glad it worked out for him.

  3. Congressman Welch, whether or not we raise the debt ceiling has nothing to do with paying our bills; there is money to pay entitlements, social security, and such. (the theft of Social Security funds by Congress is another issue) But the American people are saying “NO” to the continuation of funding for undeclared and endless wars which the Federal Reserve gives you money to wage, then you give us the bills to pay, with interest. The Constitution does not allow that; even so, Congress passes the costs along and threatens us with withholding dollars that are essential for our well-being. Do your job! Cut the spending for the wars, raise the taxes on your wealthy friends, audit the Federal Reserve, inventory what gold and silver reserves that we may or may not have. And once again, get us a real investigation into 9/11 which is where the looting of the United State began, where Homeland Security began, where TSA began, and how the European banksters got bailouts while the people got foreclosures.

Please watch these two short videos to see how dedicated Congressman Peter Welch has been in wanting to learn the truth about 9/11 and stopping the wars.

  4. Only in Vermont would someone consider taking a Subaru on a “joy ride….”

  5. It is always a very sad day whenever a sugarmaple tree is cut down in Vermont. I have a great deal of confidence in our state curator, but still I’m glad I wasn’t at the statehouse when the trees were taken down.

  6. Bernie and I agree about President Obama and a primary. Primary elections are good for energizing people to get involved in politics. Whether our heads are in the sand or not, these people are affecting our lives on a daily basis. Look for the candidates who run because it’s the right thing to do, not because they are the “chosen” ones by establishment party-types, or “top tier candidates” as defined by someone other than you, the voter.

  7. [...] an appearance on left-wing talk radio host Thom Hartmann's show, Vermont's openly Socialist Senator suggested that it would be good idea if there was a Democratic primary challenger to President [...]

  8. “And once again, get us a real investigation into 9/11 which is where the looting of the United State began..”

It actually began a couple decades before 9/11, in January of 1980 when Ronald Reagan was sworn in. It probably started before that, though that is when it really started to take off. Remember the Savings and Loans crisis, for instance, where an entire banking system was looted from the inside and all these business and government leaders, including Sen. John McCain and Neil Bush, one of Bush Senior’s sons) were implicated in the scandal? 9/11 was just more of the same.

  9. Thank you Senator Sanders. I agree wholeheartedly.

Sanders and Leahy on the Democratic Presidential ticket in 2012.

VTD requires that all commenters identify themselves by first and last name. You may wonder why we don't accept anonymous comments. The short answer is: We want to keep the discourse civil.

You might rightly ask, since most online newspapers accept anonymous posts from readers, what makes VTD so special?
