Man wanted in South Burlington stabbing turns himself in, ordered jailed

Mack turned himself in at Chittenden County Superior criminal court Tuesday afternoon where he was arraigned on charges of first-degree aggravated domestic assault and violation of conditions of release in an earlier case.

Von “Red” Simmonds, 40, was arrested Thursday afternoon and charged with second-degree murder, according to the Burlington Police Department. He is accused of killing Abubakar Sharrif, 23, of Burlington.

According to the Burlington Police Department, 23-year-old Abubakar Sharrif was found bleeding from apparent stab wounds early Sunday morning at a restaurant downtown. He was pronounced dead at a hospital later that morning.
